India Wedding

Stella shared photos and videos from her nephew’s wedding last week. The videos are the last of the official cultural ceremony of the wedding. The groom’s family arrives at the bride’s family home and escorts her to her new married family home at the groom’s house. There are various blessings and traditions that show respect, love for family and a prayer for a hospitable home that is well provided for and blesses others. Of course, their are always prayers for the blessing of children to come.

The timing of her nephew’s wedding took place during our discussion of Day 55 of The Time is Near. That particular day focuses on the wedding supper of the lamb. Our scriptures were found in Revelation 19:6-10 and Matthew 22:1-14. The special clothing required to enter the wedding are still part of Indian cultural practice and the spiritual lesson of it comes easily to Stella vs. us in the west.

Picking up the bride from her family home.

I am thankful for Stella taking the time to share with us and teach us. Hearing details of Indian culture and learning spiritual insights from the Bible that are still seen in the east was a true blessing to us.

Delivery of the bride to the groom’s family home- notice the pitcher of milk and foods wrapped in her sari.

Blessings,

Ellen
