Follow God Well

September 4, 2022-Follow Well to Lead Well

Read and Reflect on Joshua Chapter 3 and 4 today.

Joshua 3:3+4 “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests who are Levites, carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about a thousand yards between you and the ark; do not go near it.”

Precise commands from God was a must in this new endeavor of entering the Promised land. Joshua was the man who would convey God directive and commands clearly to God’s people.

Joshua was the leader God was going to exalt in front of the people. He had to give the heart and directives of God to the people, but he also had to be a living example of following God as well. How does your following of God measure up to Biblical standards and directives he has left for us? Joshua was exalted on God’s timetable, and it did not come from himself. No arrogance, just a humble follower God used to lead His people well. Is God growing you toward leadership? Are you following well now so that you will be prepared like Joshua? Joshua was Moses’ assistant. He followed well during that time and God used all that life experience in the desert wanderings to prepare him for the Promised land leadership role. Listen quietly and intently to what God might be saying to you about leading. Take all the small and intricate steps and directives God is placing before you now, to be ready for what He will call you toward later.

Blessings,

Ellen
