Spiritual Insight

Joshua 2:1 “Then Joshua, son of Nun, secretly sent two spies from Shittim. ‘Go look over the land’, he said, ‘especially Jericho.’ So, they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.”

The two spies go into Jericho and get saved by Rahab the local prostitute. She could have just let them go, not hid them, or even told her king where they were. Rahab saw with spiritual eyes a different tale for her city. Rahab says in verse 9, “I know that the Lord has given this land to you and that a great fear has fallen on us, that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you.”  She chose to align herself with God’s men. She heard the reports about their God and the miracles that went before them. She knew in her heart their god was ‘the God’. Are you making it plain enough to the people around you that God is ‘the God’? Rahab heard about this great God and it opened her spiritual eyes. God took her spiritual vision and set her in the family line of King David and of his only son, King Jesus, Savior and Lord of All. Are you doing lip service for God and sharing about his greatness in your life? Try it, you might be surprised at the spiritual eyes it will open from the people you talk to! Who knows what amazing things God has in mind for those who have insight to see him for who he is? -the one true and living God. “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” Ephesians 1:18 (NIV)
